The Journey to Authenticity: Self-Esteem and Self Confidence

Continuing Self Awareness and being authentic from the last couple of weeks of Monday Motivation, it is important to understand the difference between Self-Esteem and Self Confidence. It is easy to say that you are self-confident about your job or body, but are you comfortable with your identity or in your own skin? One can have high self-confidence and still lack healthy self-esteem. So, what does this mean?

Self-Esteem is not Self-Confidence, it is about your inner strength and your inner value system, whereas Self-Confidence is about your external persona where you come across having the ability to deal with worldly challenges and having trust in your abilities. Self-Esteem is about being authentic and having that confidence in yourself from the inside out.

So, understand the concept of Self-Esteem and become authentic from the inside out by practicing some of the tools listed below.

  1. Be open to your current Self and accept who you are without judgment.
  2. Be proud of yourself for starting on this journey of becoming more authentic.
  3. Identify any discrepancies you may have between your belief system and your actions
  4. Have faith in yourself that you are on the right track to exploring your Self
  5. Now keep track by identifying your actions daily and then try to correct them if needed.
  6. Practice Self-compassion
